About components, snippets, and stationery
Components are easy to confuse with custom snippets and stationery.
Custom snippets, like components, are site resources designed to be used on multiple site pages. But a component updated from one page is updated on all the other pages displaying it. By contrast, once a custom snippet is dragged or pasted onto a page, that instance of the snippet is merged with the page. If the snippet is dragged to a second page and edited there, the edit doesn't update the first page. Stationery pages, like components, are HTML files used as site resources. But a component is a portion of a live page. Also, it maintains its connection to the live pages that use it, so editing the component updates each of the pages. By contrast, a stationery page is a whole page that you use as a template for a whole live page. Also, once you have used it to create a set of live pages, its connection with the pages is broken.
Stationery pages can include components and custom snippets. Components can include custom snippets.
